Politics

Here's the scoop. I am one of the idiots. I am part of the almost 30 somethings that knows nothing about what is going on in this country. Unlike the rest of the lemmings, I want to change that right now. I have always known that I should be keeping up to date on what is happening in the world and closer to home. Out of laziness and doubt I never have. I have always felt that either what is going on gets me so irritated that I don't even want to know, or I have no way of getting accurate information. I want to know what is happening, what decisions are being made, what laws are being signed, but I do not want every body's opinion of it. I want to form my own opinions. I want to decide if I think it is a good idea or not. This will be an interesting test of how many people read my blog. If you read this, I want to know where you get your news information from. I am seeking out ways to keep up on things amidst the rest of my crazy life. After all in about six weeks I will be spending a lot of time sitting and it would be nice to have something important to read:) There is my challenge, step up and speak out.

I did not teach you very well did I? I not know where to tell you to go for help, but DO NOT depend on the media, that much I do know.
Now you know that I do read your blog.

And I read your blog as well:-) So I think the best place to start is to form an opinion about whether or not the founding fathers had it right. And, of course, we know this is a Promised Land and the Lord directed the paths of those who came here so they were right on!

My suggestion: Read The 5000 Year Leap and then look around at what is happening and see how you feel about all the freedoms we are supposed to have that are being quickly taken away. That will get you involved really fast:-) And then you'll be like me--trying to figure out what I can do to turn things around. Good luck!

I hear ya! I sometimes wonder if my blog is read either.....
I get my news from the media, I listen to quite a few different sources, from FoxNews, to CNN, and most of the others. It is interesting how they DO always put in their own opinions, even though they shouldn't.
I agree with finding out what you can do now. Write to your senators and reps. Be sure to vote. A lot of really bad things are being passed off for good now days. Just as it says in the Scriptures. Satan is working hard. We have to work hard too. I know it will only get worse, but it is prophesied to do so. That doesn't mean it is time to give up. Work, work, work....and speak up!!--Love ya sis

NPR.

Yeah, it's the media, but at least you can hear about what is happening, and then form your own opinions. I think it's really important to know what's going on in our country and the world.

First, I don't think you're an idiot. :)

Second, keep reading the good books you're reading.

Third, I peruse through foxnews, cnn, usatoday, wall street journal, drudge report, deseret news, and church news (in no particular order). I do listen to NPR in the mornings on my way to work...many of their contributors lean towards the far left. And on occasion I listen to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh...I value their perspective and enjoy the entertainment. Hannity is a whiner so I don't listen to him anymore! And Mark Levin is growing on me.

Every one is opinionated. Somehow news people have gotten the impression that we want them to be entertainers...and they've taken it to a whole new level unfortunately. But I do think there is value in hearing someone else's opinion. Sometimes I read or listen just to pull out all the "emotional words" that distract from the facts. The challenge is to discover the facts and formulate my own opinion.

i read! i read!
I'm just behind on my google reader.

I listen to talk radio...Laura Ingraham is my favorite. I also watch The Today Show just so I can keep on my toes spotting liberal talk.

(oh and you're not an idiot...)

To my non-idiotic friend: I find that as I am "aging" I am more interested in the political views and opinions. Perhaps it is more due to the downward spiral of our government that has gotten my attention and less due to my "age".

I listen or read the media reports. I listen to talk radio and try to determine my own opinion. But with the political views that are out of control and full of much anger and hatred in the hearts of man...I try to remember to have an open heart and open eyes...to research as much as I possibly can before forming my own opinion on each matter.

I used to think I was a strong "one party" follower...but now I do not know what I am. What do I represent when it comes to the stand on our government and our country? All I know is that I represent a child of God and that he is a just God and so I shall be the same. Hard as it may be at times I must search, ponder and pray to know the way that He would have me go...and I feel strongly that this is what I must do when becoming politically involved.

Good luck with your adventure in this crazy, mixed up and confused world that we live in.

oh, and I read some wonderful people's blogs! Love Ya & Miss You Too!
